Entrepreneurship: It’s not as glamorous as it seems 📸 I opened a business at 26 with no business background & no management skills. I leveraged social media (Instagram) to build my business & brand. I was booking 6+ months out before deciding to open a business & building a team. I took every opportunity & classes to build my network. I hired an accountant to do my expenses & payroll. I built a 6 figure business within the first year with a team. Within 3 years, I hit my goal of a 7 figure business with a team of 15. It was the hardest thing for me to manage in my 20’s going into my 30’s. I’m sharing my story, if you’re considering becoming an entrepreneur, business owner or hiring a team. You can do it, it just takes a lot of failures, lessons & never giving up. If you really want it that bad, you won’t. You will go through the ups & downs as an hairstylist, entrepreneur or business owner. Reality: I had to learn to become a leader to a team. I had to learn manage our overhead & expenses. I had become a landlord & knew nothing about it. I had to learn how to pay taxes. I didn’t have a business mentor & the business was growing faster than myself, I really struggled in the beginning. Your business & company will only grow as much as you are evolving & learning. There were times I wanted to quit. I was managing so much & being a hairstylist & running a business is not easy or glamorous as it seems. If you’re a hairstylist or salon owner, you already know the struggles. Life as a salon owner: Imagine being a hairstylist & salon owner & times that by how many stylist you have. I have x13 staff & It’s constantly managing a team of stylists, bookings & client expectations. I’m lucky to have such an amazing team but as any business owner, it comes with a lot of pressure & responsibility. The constant stress of running a business & feeling the need to stay relevant in this industry with finding balance. It’s never easy but nothing worth having is. You’ll work more than the average person, especially in the beginning of entrepreneurship but that’s exactly it. You’re not trying to be the average person. You’ll want more for yourself & that’s how you’ll do it. 🤍
