Many years ago, I had a chance encounter with @soulpancake. I’d come to work with some wonderful people there. @_golriz_ was one of those people. She lives across the world now but whenever there are opportunities for us to make a little magic together she reaches out. This project for @participant to honor Pauli Murray has been nothing short of magical. A few weeks ago, I wrote this poem in Seattle after watching the documentary, My Name Is Pauli Murray. I felt this huge responsibility to acknowledge Pauli and honor that so much of who I have become is because of their work. Last week, I was in Durham, NC visiting @shanatucker and @monicatyson when I noticed a mural with Pauli’s face on it. After a quick search, I realized the home Pauli grew up in was 3 minutes away. My mom and I made our way over and stood on the ground that grew Pauli. I thanked Pauli and their grandmother. I gazed at this simple home that created enough safety for Pauli to dream of the unimaginable. I am because Pauli was. I encourage you to learn about Pauli from @paulimurraycenter I encourage you to watch the doc. I encourage you to dream bigger and create liberation and freedom for others in a way only you can.
