Greenpointers, DON'T FORGET TO VOTE! Early voting started this past weekend (August 13) and runs through August 21 ahead of Election Day on August 23. To help you make an informed decision, we have an (updated) guide to the (second) democratic primary election for you. Though we ran our first 2022 voter guide in March, a lot has changed in the meantime. Our State Senate and Congressional districts are different, though our Assembly district remains the same. Because of a recent court case, the legislative maps were redrawn, forcing part of the primary to August 23. The primary election for the State Assembly already happened in June. Emily Gallagher won her reelection campaign. Now, the neighborhood will choose who will represent them in a brand new State Senate district. As for the congressional side of things, we were drawn into Rep. Nydia Velázquez’s district. Rep. Velázquez is not facing a competitive reelection campaign, so the State Senate election is the only one up in the air.
