"This is not the story of a damsel in distress as the only ones who are in need of saving are the ones who underestimate me." Link in bio for full video 🎞 Earlier this year, @tomlephoto invited me to help him do some research for a new TV show about women who worked on Flinders Lane, the epicentre of the Australian fashion industry during the 1950s-60s. As we spent hours poring over microfilms of mid-century magazines, tabloids, and newspapers at The State Library, we realised an audio-visual element would be so much more engaging when we presented our research to the show producers. We wanted to give them an idea of what Flinders Ln and Melbourne at large may have looked like to a young woman working in fashion, and how her wardrobe moves through the city. Three lockdowns later (or has it been four? It's hard to keep track), I figured I'd finally post the video we made back in April. I was lucky enough to dive into Tom's extensive collection of Australian vintage and pull pieces to style the character - what a dreamy day of playing dress up that was! All garments featured are from Melbourne-based labels, aside from the nightgown. Which look is your favourite? 💫 1. Dress & bolero set - Elegance 2.
