Please join us for Paul Maheke's performance "A fire circle for a public hearing" premiering for the first time in the US on the High Line on June 28, 29 and 30, 2022 at 7pm. Paul Maheke (@paulmaheke) creates performances based in dance and movement, accompanied by poetic voice-overs or scripts. His works explore the ways that bodies can act as archives of history and personal experience. "A fire circle for a public hearing" develops Maheke’s ongoing engagement with the potential of the body as an archive, addressing how history, memory, and identity are formed. Three performers will channel different characters as if possessed by ghostly entities. Their movements and dialogue explore hypervisibility and erasure as they play out in historical marginalization and contemporary political movements. The event will take place on the High Line at 14th Street. To learn more & RSVP, visit the link in bio. 📷: (1) "Seeking After the Fully Grown Dancer deep within," 2016-2018.
