Free class link in bio Rule 1 for taking on an assistant : Have a plan ☑ We know as stylists that the salon environment can be an unpredictable one and we often have to adapt to changes frequently. Although this is an awesome benefit to our business, we might have a hard time learning in the midst of chaos. This is why it is so important to have a plan for your Assistant. Yes, they will have to adapt to unpredictable days, but you will not be able to rely on them if you don't train them well from the start! During each phase you'll need to know what you can expect from your Assistant and what they should expect from you. The first 2 phases, the Stylist will be investing more than they get back. It takes several months just to establish a relationship with expectations. When you want to take on an Assistant, make sure you have that time to invest in the beginning without expecting much help back more than sweeping, cleaning and observing. During the last 2 phases, you should be able to set expectations for your work behind the chair and revenue. In phase 3 you can expect to have your workload lightened and your Assistant should be ready to take on some maintenance services with your guidance. Your return should be about a break even for the time you invested during the first 2 sessions plus a small return. This means you will be able to grow your business some with the hourly and time you have invested. In phase 4 you should be able to increase your productivity and scale with the help of your Assistant. They should also be able to start transitioning into taking services on their own. While the first 2 phases may vary in time, this phase should be limited to a certain time frame so that your Assistant can begin the transition onto their own career. My training course package lays out the 4 phases of training and how to customize it for the level your Assistant is at, the cost and potential profit in each phase as well as what working with your Assistant will look like for up to 1.5 years. I'll be covering the most important topics in my course and more!
