This is Lewis! This little guy came to us when he was just four weeks old. A few days into foster care he started showing concerning symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. After a visit to the animal hospital, we ruled out all obvious and common illnesses. After extensive testing and multiple visits, the vet specialists determined that he had megaesophagus—a disorder where food accumulates in the dog’s esophagus often causing them to vomit when or after eating. Because we were able to catch it early, his vet was able to get him on the right medication to regain motility and had time to regress. After spending a month in a foster home soaking up all the love and having multiple check-ups to monitor his progress, we’re thrilled to report this guy is eating as normal, is happy and healthy, and has been cleared from the vet for adoption! Despite the medical challenges he endured, Lewis has been the happiest little camper. He has loved being in a home with other pups and has such a sweet and silly personality. He’s the best little buddy who is finally back to feeling like a normal pup.
