First They Came - Pastor Martin Niemöller Pastor Martin Niemöller was a Christian Pastor and survivor of Dachau concentration camp. Initially a staunch supporter of Hitler, who promised to make Germany great again by getting rid of foreigners and reinstilling Christian values that had been lost, it wasn't until they tried to makes changes to the church, that Pastor Niemöller began to speak out. At which point he was arrested, held without trial for almost a year, released and arrested again before being sent off to a c-camp with other "threats to society" Sound familiar?? let's keep going... After his liberation, in a 1946 sermon he told his congregation that the atrocities of the Holocaust were partially their fault, saying, "We must openly declare that we are not innocent of the Nazi murders, of the murder of German communists, Poles, Jews, and the people in German-occupied countries... And this guilt lies heavily upon the German people and the German name, even upon Christendom. For in our world and in our name have these things been done." Stop listening to politicians and start looking at your history books, before they come and take those too.
