'Majesty Surfacing' / Throughout my career, I have had the incredible honor of passing many afternoons in the company of grizzlies. Most bears pay me little mind, too absorbed in their autumn prerogative to gorge on salmon for the upcoming winter. Every once in a while, however, I meet a curious giant who cannot resist drawing closer for a good long stare and a sniff. After “snorkeling” for fish with his snout shoved under the river’s surface, this bear pulled his head from the swift currents to get a better look at me. The two of us spent the rest of the day searching the river’s depths and listening to the last songbirds of the season. 'Majesty Surfacing' is a homage to the wild kinships I have shared with some of our world’s most misunderstood predators.
