All my life, I’ve been compared to every Black woman and even a few Black men who ever showed up on a screen.
Back then, it bothered me deeply.
It’s a form of erasure, a microaggression we’ve learned to downplay.
People saw me in faces I didn’t even recognize.
Because sometimes, being Black is “close enough.”
We stop being seen as individuals.
Now, I choose to laugh about it.
