Alopecia Changed My Life.....For The Better! Hair has always been very important to me from a young age, I grew up in foster care my white foster mum has no idea how to do my hair and use to just cut it off, as I got older she would ship me off to friends and neighbours for them to “deal” with my hair. I learned to do my own hair from a young age due to this, I was braiding my own hair at 8 and other people by 10. Hair helped me connect to my culture and my peers. This love for hair continued into adulthood, I worked in the hair industry, and started a successful blog Natural Belle in 2008 one of the first in the U.K. to be talking about natural Afro hair. In 2012 I started to loose my hair. I was diagnosed with #CCCA after a long journey of doctors and hair specialists. I was embarrassed and ashamed about my hair loss. I hid my hair loss a long time. This lead me to wigs which lead me to becoming a business owner. Making wigs @ginaknightwigdesign for other with hair loss. Talking about my CCCA helped build a network of support and a community that I would not have achieved without having gone through losing my hair. What “negative” has turned into a positive for you?
