Architect @williamsmalleyriba and photographer @harry.crowder go in search of #geoffreybawa in this week’s design issue of @fthtsi. The father of tropical modernism, Bawa spent the majority of his career in Sri Lanka where he invented an architectural vernacular that is still felt in any “sensitively designed hotel” to this day. I love these buildings and the way in which Bawa worked with and against nature to create his strict but verdant aesthetic symmetry. I also hope that I get to see it for myself some day.
