#lifeofawaterphotographer is like no other....there’s a lot that goes unseen in these moments. The lead up to this day just like any other, I found myself checking the reports trying to figure out which window will give me the best outcome. Tracking the swell, the winds and the light because all of these factors are important. I’m constantly calling friends to get their input because two brains are better than one right ? Really taking advantage of social media and trying to see if anyone shared their session recently. Basically I do a lot of research before I go anywhere but the reality of it is you never know until you get in the water. During the time I documented this clip I was working as an electrician over night at the airport and I’d bring my gear with me to work. My body was still trying to adjust to a new sleeping schedule and I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep till 2pm. So I’d finish work around 6am and I’d send it straight to this zone specifically. This clip is everything I could ever ask for as an ocean photographer. The light has just peaked over the valley which really surprised me with the amount of clouds that was around. This specific zone on the beach breaks a little better than the rest so to have it to myself was a treat. The wave before this one was below average and I didn’t even lift my camera to shoot it. I came up for air and instantly knew this next wave was going to be a good one. I quickly paddled into position and turned my camera around to blow off any water spots because I was not about to mess up this opportunity. ❗️❗️(Rest of the story is pinned in the comments below!! I maxed out the word limit)😅 @aquatech_imagingsolutions @axisgo
