A year ago today I packed up my cubicle and said goodbye to corporate America. The job I had thought I wanted. The job society and my education had told me was the right career path. A job that after 12 years never really fulfilled me. Meanwhile, for over 8 years, I had turned my passion for crafting into a side hustle. But at some point that hobby turned into a business. I could see the potential. I spent years daydreaming of pursuing it full time. Every time I spoke it out loud I was met with nay sayers and doubts. You see content creation, influencing or blogging is a relatively new career. 15-20 years ago this never existed. Heck even 10 years ago you couldn’t make a full time income blogging. When I pulled out of the industrial park for the last time I told myself you have one year. One year to prove to yourself you can do this. One year to focus entirely on building your business without the distraction of another demanding job. I poured my heart and soul into this but more importantly I had a community that rallied around me. From other creators sharing their contacts. Previous sponsors excited to see me take the leap and send consistent work my way. My Instagram family rooting for me, engaging with my content and continuing to support me.
