For #WomensHistoryMonth the Miami Black Police Precinct and Courthouse debuted its exhibit: "This Woman's Work: A Tribute to Justice for All." The art piece features a commemorative series of 100 plates, employing distinctive mixed media to highlight the contributions of Black women in law enforcement and the judicial system. And guess who got her very own commemorative plate on the walls of history?? I'm in a museum! I'm a work of art! To even be mentioned in the same sentence as some of the women on this wall, like Marilyn Holifield, is a blessing itself, but to be etched into a small piece of Miami-Dade history took my breath away for a moment. "Grateful" doesn't even begin to describe the feeling. 🙏🏿 Fun fact: My nomination for a plate was made after the MDB Black History Month event last month. We didn't host that event for accolades but because it was the right thing to do. "The time is always right to do what is right."
