Second from the left sits a beautiful man who left this earth yesterday. As one third of the SKE crew, back in the 90’s Shawn Regruto threw some of the most fun parties I ever deejayed (Life, Lot 61 etc...) but he had aspirations beyond the vapid scenester shit we were all caught up in and ventured out the scene to make his way as an artist and filmmaker We fell out of touch over the past 10/15 years but shared so many great times in our early 20’s and were around each other so much of our formative years, whenever we ran into each other, my heart was instantly full - especially once he cracked his slightly grumpy guy-smile. I ran into him last February outside Joe’s (on National Pizza Day - so weird what we remember) and he told me he’d had a rough time battling cancer but was on the mend. I saw him again in April and he looked great to me, but maybe I was seeing what I wanted/needed to see. It’s beyond tragic to lose anyone this young. My heart goes out to all his family and loved ones. He was a mensch and a true New Yorker Cherish the ones you love, let them know you love them. Love you Shawn ❤️❤️❤️ 📸 @upstairsaterics
