What an eventful year 2022 has been!! To name *just a few things* (seriously, we couldn’t fit it all)... CBSF brought many Professional Division students to YAGP this year, winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in both Women and Men’s classical and contemporary divisions and Outstanding Teacher Awards for Galina Alexandrova and Nikolai Kabaniaev. Next, Michelle Lin (Professional Division) was selected out of 80 students worldwide to participate in the Prix De Lausanne competition, where she had a blast and represented the school and herself beautifully. Four of our Professional Division students were also selected to compete at IBC Helsinki and Kailin Pham-Kratz went on to the second round. We were extremely excited to welcome Ashley Wheater, Artistic Director of The Joffrey Ballet, to our new facilities and teach a Master Class for our Professional Division. Of course, this is all while the school was preparing for our annual Spring Show at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in May!! This year, students performed divertissements from La Fille Mal Gardée and new contemporary works. Next came Summer Intensive, where we welcomed many new faces to our brand new building and were proud to offer Master Classes from a wide variety of Master Teachers in classical, contemporary, and other styles. All this culminated in two performances showcasing their hard work and included the timeless Peter and the Wolf ballet, and divertissements from Coppélia. When Fall came, so did our brand new in-house theater! On opening night, our students performed divertissements from Coppélia and our signature contemporary piece, “With Time We Go”. We also proudly added two new faculty members, Svetlana Siplatova and Lawrence Pech! And finally, not too long ago, we wrapped up the year with our best production of The Nutcracker yet, with newly added characters, sets, backdrops, and an outstanding cast.
