The fact that it's FDA approved means that we have a lot of data in terms of efficacy and safety. ⁣ ⁣ 🟠Humectant: In simple words, colloidal oatmeal has a high content of beta gucan and starches that has the ability to retain and hold water and hence is an effective ingredient that can moisturizer skin. ⁣ ⁣ 🟠Emollient: Ever boil oats and get that "gel-like" consistency? Well, the oat oil in oats are high in lipid content such as triglycerides and fatty acids. These lipids can serve as the "mortar" in your skin's brick-and-mortar structure and hence act as an emollient which can strengthen skin barrier. ⁣ ⁣ 🟠Antioxdant & anti-inflammatory: The presence of avenanthramides in oats are unique and not present in other cereal grains. These compounds are antipathogens, meaning they are produced by the plant to help defend against plant pathogens such as fungi. Hence, they are help reduce oxidative stress when applied topically and also help soothe calm and irritated skin. ⁣ ⁣ 🟠Gentle cleansing agent: The cleansing activity of oat is from the saponins present that act like a gentle soap. Oatmeal baths are used treat a variety of skin conditions from psoriasis to eczema.
