Our HTSI Jony Ive guest edit is out today. A blast to do. Fascinating to talk to Jony – and the prize winners of Jony and Prince Charles's inaugural RCA Terra Carta Design Lab – for a piece on the inspirational thinkers working to fight climate change. Also to be in an issue with Lily Allen (me and teenage children jumped out of our seats at her play 2:22), the great Trombone Shorty, and my all-time hero Yo-Yo Ma, photographed with his cello (but which one, he has a number? I just fell down a rabbit hole reading about the Stradivarius he has that Jacqueline du Pre played). And lots of great stuff about tools and lathes and making things. In between writing my piece on the RCA at my parents-in-law in Northumberland, my father-in-law sent us to Warrington to get him a new engine for his time-honoured lathe. Totally get why Jony and Marc Newson would geek out about such things when they met at Marc's workshop in the Cotswolds, and have the wooden bowls turned by said in-law to show for our odyssey. Also, very happy about the penguin with the flip top head in Jony's piece on silver. Surely Batman would have hidden the button for the Batpoles in it had he had one...
