Please read! While I look forward to growing and expanding our leadership and membership (and certainly handing over social media to be a team effort), I thought I would introduce myself first, as the founder of this organization.
Who am I? (In part)
Music and musical theatre are as integral to who I am as my trans experience is. I am a member of AFM Local 802, ASMAC, Dramatists Guild, and PAVA. I have been involved with Musical Theatre Factory and Ring of Keys, among many other organizations and jobs. I’m a music director/teacher/writer/performer/and, and, and. I am often currently in assistant roles in the stage management and music direction fields, but conducting is the biggest dream of all. I’m off to BoCo/Berklee for their MFA program, but long term, I’ll be New York based once again. This organization will not be limited to NYC as trans people are everywhere, and often, outside of our big city bubbles, need our support even more. I look forward to being of service to and with my community.
Why does TEMPO @temporganization exist?
There are gaps and intersections that need addressing in our field. There are still going to be gaps and I hope we continue to meet them in the work of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access. Trans artists who are represented by other organizations deserve room to address their particular needs as trans people. Trans artists who are technically not yet represented by other similar organizations, like myself, want to be somewhere that is intended for us. We exist, and we belong. All of us. TEMPO is part of a greater effort and a forthcoming coalition. The work we specifically do is to make sure music professionals from many gender experiences are able to thrive and connect to one another and the field at large.
Lots of love,
