I didn’t post this piece from earlier in the year. The @foreignanddevelopmentoffice has done an incredible job acknowledging it’s past, and it has evolved, significantly. Yet, if I’m honest, I was triggered. The recounting of careers and lives ended early without regard left me, flat. The workplace is truly one of the most vulnerable places we as LGBTQ+ people can find ourselves in. Hearing the stories of thriving Home Office LGBTQ+ employees and families today was incredible! Really. If our institutions genuinely want to change, they can. Thank you to all those that participated, thank you @attitudemag and @cliffjoannou 🙌🏾 Also, as it turns out, MI5 is good at more than training secret service. It was recently named one of the top employers for LGBTQ+ equality. Companies that embrace LGBTQ+ policies outperform their competitors. Diversity helps draw top talent and foster innovation, and people perform significantly better when they can be themselves at work. Link in bio
