- This is me at 9 years old. This is not what a 9 year old girl should look like but since the first grade I was forced to wear this ugly uniform and hide my beautiful hair. Was it my choice? No. My family? No. Religious parents? No. Is this my culture? No. My crime is that I was born in Iran. same as Mahsa Amini, who was killed by the “morality” police for not having the “proper” hijab. I was lucky enough to flee from this horrifying government but these girls (and boys) were not and got killed in the past few days and still are. growing up to be who you want to be is not an option in Iran, In Iran they steal our identities, They force religion on us, They scare us from the hell THEY believe in. You either become who they want you to be or you get killed. Please be the voice for Iranians fighting for their basic human rights. For your Iranians friends’ families in Iran.
