WESTWARD WEDNESDAY: The amount of whiskey sacrificed to the heavens through Angel's Share is different for every climate and every distillery. At Westward, we lose about 6% to Angel's Share in the first year because we use new barrels for aging, and around 3-4% every year after that. Humidity takes alcohol out of the barrels faster, and considering the temperate Oregon climate – where it's never too hot or too cold – we see water evaporate more quickly than the alcohol.
