FADE IN: SPEAKEASY INTERIOR - SUNSET The speakeasy had only been open for a few moments when THE INGENUE comes barreling in the main dining room and makes a beeline for ARCHIE behind the bar. Her face says it all – something big has happened. THE INGENUE: “Archie! Jeepers Creepers! You’ll never guess what’s happened!!” ARCHIE (bemused, yet he has heard it all): “Alright, give it to me straight...” THE INGENUE (can barely contain herself): “I’M GONNA BE IN A PICTURE...” ARCHIE feels as though he’s a balloon that has suddenly begun to lose its air. This one sounds all too familiar. THE INGENUE (continuing, does not notice the change in ARCHIE): “...AT PARAMOUNT! NEXT WEEK!” ARCHIE sighs, pulls her favorite gin bottle from the well and makes her a G&T. She looks at him quizzically, confused as to why he’s not excited for her. Little does she know that he’s heard this story before. In fact, he heard it once upon a time in this exact same place, from a young woman not so different from her. He passes the drink to her across the bar. ARCHIE: “Here’s to you, kid. I’m happy for you.
