Today in Anti-Matter: The last month has been weighing heavy on my mind for a number of converging reasons that have all but seemed to lead to one desperately unwanted conclusion. So for the sake of just taking the Band-Aid off, I should probably just say it now and say it out loud: At the end of this year, Anti-Matter will be going on an indefinite hiatus.
In today’s deeply personal missive, I talk about the wins of the past 18 months, along with the misses—where we succeeded and where things fell short. This version of Anti-Matter was always an experiment of sorts, one where the question has always been: Can a community-based readership for this kind of thing grow into a position of objective sustainability? I share my experience as much as I can—both as an explanation and as a contribution to the well of wider knowledge that we can all use towards the collective goal of a sustainable future in hardcore.
I also offer a timely preview of my upcoming interview with Dan Campbell (@broompeople) of @thewonderyearsband, who perhaps didn’t know what was on my mind when we got into a particularly relevant conversation about how we attempt to consider what makes doing something valuable—and what makes something valuable in the first place. It’s an incredibly thoughtful dialogue with a punk stalwart, and I cannot wait to share the complete conversation, as always, on Thursday.
That all said, it’s not “over” yet. Head over at antimatter.substack.com to get the aerial view for the future.
Thank you, friends ✨
