I made a food doc video with @atmos! Video link in my bio! • Indigenous peoples are reclaiming native lands through our plates. For Atmos, Indigenous actor, comedian, and @indigenousrising organizer @dallasgoldtooth traveled to the homelands of the Dakota Oyate people in Minneapolis, Minnesota to visit Indigenous chef Sean Sherman (@siouxchef) at his restaurant @owamni. At Owamni, Sherman along with a nearly 70% Indigenous staff is serving up everything from red cliff lake trout to blue corn mush, flavors that were wiped off North American plates at the height of colonization. The restaurant, and its holistic approaches to food, do more than offer a delicious bite to eat. The hope is that, by reclaiming Indigenous food practices and investing in microlocal systems, they can help shift our physical and mental relationship with what we eat and how we eat it. “Food is medicine,” explains Owamni co-founder @dana.noelle.thompson.
