I never age or grow old...I’ve just lived many lives. I worked on this project last year and put it off on sharing it but I want to bring you guys along my photographic journey and evolution. ‘Assimilation' is a self portrait I put together as an art statement to highlight the erasure of native Peruvian culture due to its colonial history. Being Peruvian comes with a lot of unlearning and healing of intergenerational traumas associated with shame, of our native features, languages and customs. 'Assimilation' embodies my struggle with being first generation, overcoming generational trauma and navigating my innate gifts and a reminder that I’m a Miracle. 🪄
