So sad to hear of the passing of #BarbaraWalters. She was a dear friend to our family. Here she is holding Zachary for an interview with @eltonjohn and me. She supported our relationship so lovingly and brought a message of happy gay parenthood to the American public. Barbara was a GIANT in the world of broadcasting. She interviewed every head of state. Every “who’s who” that really mattered. She broke the glass ceiling for women in media. She was super smart, always impeccably prepared and never shied away from the tough questions. Later in her career, she created @theviewabc A groundbreaking television format that gave women an authentic voice on the most important issues affecting our world today. This format has been much copied by other broadcasters around the world. I will always be grateful to the kindness she personally showed me. I met her during the first year in my relationship with Elton. Those were heady days and I carried a lot of insecurity. Her kindness and validation gave me a real boost. Every woman working in broadcasting today respectfully owes Barbara a massive debt of gratitude. Thank-you Barbara ❤️ #RIP
