Haven’t made a lil home video geeking over one of my green gurls in a while, so here we go hunny 🤓🪴💚 GURL, let’s welcome Ms. Scindapsus pictus to the botanical stage ... this kween was a lovely gift to me during my YOU GROW, GURL! Tour this past March and it love at first sight when I spotted this green gurl 😍 Native to Southeast Asia (India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and the Philippines ... yas, hunny, this green gurl is well traveled) this climbing vine can reach heights of over 10 feet in the wild. Nicknamed the Satin Pothos, with her matte green heart-shaped leaves with silver splotches, she is a part of the Arum family right along side her botanical cousin pothos (Epipremnum aureum). And like her botanical cousin she’s quite resilient to those plant parent mistakes we all make occasionally, and is very easy to care for. ☀️ When it comes to that sunshine, she does not enjoy harsh direct light, as she will experience sunburn. I’ve found that placing her a few feet away from a bright window or placing a sheer curtain to filter any direct sunshine is her scene 💧 This kween will tell you when she needs a drink, dahling. While a go-to method can always be testing the soil moisture with your finger when planted in soil, I’ve found that her leaves often begin to curl when she needs water. So pay attention to her leaves and she’ll tell you when she’s thirsty. Be sure to let her well-drained soil dry out in between waterings, as she is sensitive to wet, soggy soil 🪴Let her climb! She is a climbing vine after all, gurl. While you may often find this kween trailing in hanging planters, if you want those larger leaves give her something to sink her vines into and let her reach for the sky. Similar to the steps of mounting a staghorn fern, this kween can be mounted on a wooden plank like my lush lil kween or a moss pole sish werks just as well Cheers to taking time to appreciate the green gurls in your space and their lushness 💚 From: @cityplanter Made by @aro_id
