Ellie Bamber’s pale glowing complexion and light auburn red hair may make her the perfect poster girl for the modern English rose but the 25-year-old’s latest role sees her transform into the leading bold, daring heroine in Disney+’s new fantasy series, Willow. Bamber takes the lead directing the cast through a turbulent storyline in the sequel remake of George Lucas’ 1988 Oscar-nominated blockbuster, adding hero to her already extensive repertoire.
Despite the fast-paced nature of the series, the novelty of bringing a forgotten story back to life is not lost on her nor is the importance of the message behind her character’s transformation. Speaking to Glass in the winter issue, Bamber explains: “For me her journey is really representative, metaphorically speaking of a woman coming into her power and what that means, feels like and how you do it and figure it out - how you finally come into your own”.
The winter issue of Glass is out now.
