A major bucket list item went down last weekend!! A prone paddle crossing from Montauk, NY to Point Judith, RI... 30 miles in about 8 hours. Colin and I have been talking about this paddle for a while now. With Colin only having off on Sunday we set a date of July 3rd and hoped for the right conditions. We ran into a few snags the Friday before leaving including busted equipment and a scheduling conflict with the safety boat that was going to follow us. We considered going just the two of us with an EPIRB, but with the holiday boat traffic and forecasted fog our loved ones quickly shut that down. It seemed like it was going to fall through when our friend captain John Nolan accompanied by Brent Davis offered to tail us and keep away any big boats coming out of fogville. A few hours into the paddle with only 1 (broken 😂) compass strapped to a metal water bottle holder, it became apparent that we would never have been able to do it without them. Thanks to Chuck Weimar and Andy Roberts for lending us their beautiful boards, and thanks for all the love from everybody. What a cool day!
