Repost from @therednationmovement • BREAKING: More than 200 Native entertainers and allies petition Biden for Leonard Peltier’s freedom Two hundred and sixteen Native entertainers and their allies sent a letter to President Biden calling for Native elder and activists Leonard Peltier’s clemency. Peltier, 78, has been unjustly imprisoned for 47 years. “Nothing is more emblematic of the mistreatment of American Indians and the uneven hand of the criminal justice system than the handling of [Leonard Peltier’s] case by the federal government,” the letter reads. “Leonard Peltier has galvanized generations of Indigenous activists and grassroots movements, yet he remains in confinement. But Leonard is not only a symbol of Indigenous pride, he is alos our relative. And his homecoming is imperativeto our collective healing.” Signatories include actors and artists from the hit TV show Reservation Dogs. The letter was led by Indigenous luminaries Dallas Goldtooth, Bird Runningwater, Sierra Teller Ornelas, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, and Bethany Yellowtail. #freeleonardpeltier #riseupforpeltier #leonardpeltier
