Skin Cycling is all the rage right now thanks to @drwhitneybowe !
Skin cycling is a great way to start incorporating actives such as AHAs/BHAs and retinoids into your routine while also giving your skin a chance to recover & not get too irritated from those potent active ingredients.
Here is the skin cycle breakdown:
Night 1: Chemical Exfoliation Night
Night 2: Retinoid Night
Nigh 3 & 4: Recovery Night
Then repeat (or cycle)!
To further decrease risk of irritation from a topical Retinoid, you can use the sandwich method where you apply a layer of moisturizer before & after Retinoid application. Retinoids are not recommended if you are TTC, pregnant, or breastfeeding (mixed studies on breastfeeding).
