Life seems to come in seasons and eras. We can’t grow and do more without preparation and maturity. There were certainly times in my life where I wished this wasn’t the case. Back in the quiet times I would check my email each morning and just not see offers or opportunities and I would get so down and depressed about it. At that time, I sort of looked at opportunities as catalysts toward creativity, when in reality the opposite is true. Slow periods can happen to anyone at any time and will likely happen to me again. It’s the natural ebb and flow of creative work and of life. When I realized that utilizing the quiet times for skills building and learning was the best use of my time, things started to change. First my attitude changed, then my relationship to stillness and quiet changed, and finally, my life began to change. Intentionality and focused personal development work with my therapist and coach helped tremendously. If you find yourself in a quiet period where it feels like nobody cares, I know it can be extremely difficult to endure.
