Here is where the grooms family goes to the brides parents house to escort her from her dads home and welcome her officially into theirs as their new bride 🤍 It is customary for the men from the Brides household to block her exit and that is when the Grooms family barter with them to discuss a Dowry (A very old tradition, now done solely for the cameras and for a bit of a laugh 😄) It is only when an amount is agreed on by the brides side that you’ll hear the cheers ring out and the drum will begin to play to let the crowd know that the bride is indeed ready for her exit. The love and happiness is so evident when you witness these customs play out - It only deepens the appreciation a person has to be able to call a country like Australia home. A place where these very traditions are highlighted and celebrated as part of the makeup that creates the stunning multicultural dynamic that we have in this country. Blessed to be Australian by birth, and Assyrian by blood 🇦🇺❤️
