In this weekend’s @fthtsi we go inside the WE collective with #bradpitt @nickcaveofficial and #thomashouseago. One part art studio, two parts support group and therapy circle, the trio have found their evolving friendship to be as rewarding as the work. The men came together at a low point, each was dealing with traumas attending addiction, separation and personal grief. “Our mutual misery became comic,” says Pitt, who began hanging out at Houseago’s studio shortly after his split from Angelina Jolie. “And out of this misery came a flame of joy in my life.” Pitt’s works are raw, self critical and brutal, drawing parallels about the destruction of his home life that are all too plain to see. “It’s all about self reflection,” he tells @craftacularuk over tea in Tampere, Finland. “I was looking at my own life and really concentrating on owning my own shit: where was I complicit in failures in my relationships, where have I misstepped? For me, [the art] was born out of ownership of what I call a radical inventory of self, getting really brutally honest and taking account of those I may have hurt.” Read more in our exclusive interview in this weekend’s magazine and online now via the link in bio.
