Look Mama! It’s me, a South Asian Aussie woman on the cover of @bodyandsoul_au ... and I penned my very own cover story too (swipe - excerpts). Little me couldn’t imagine seeing someone like her amplifying her experiences in the mainstream. I believe in choice, honouring varying racial experiences and respecting individual differences in opinion. I don’t expect all POC to share my sentiments on any nuanced issue. We’re often lumped together in how we are perceived to act, think and be - but I’m going to say it: I can’t possibly represent the entire spectrum of views on complex issues. Who can? We are individuals deserving of visibility to add layers to this dialogue. I personally believe education and inclusion are key to reforming the issues we do see.
