it’s summer and i’m feeling softer than a candy floss cloud ☁️🍭🫧 thought about this old poem i wrote called ‘jump’. a lot has changed since then, but it made me gush to read it. reading old work is always a uniquely challenging experience (i wouldn’t write this now, which is good/a sign of growth). but this reminds me of a point in writing where i learned to forget the rules and tried to uncomplicate the feeling i was trying to capture. i feel proud of it even now. it can feel easier to write about pain sometimes, which is vital and necessary, of course. but i also want to try and capture sweetness, pleasure, joy. to write as a way of cherishing the moment. like a honeyed memory of past love and how it felt in the present. to notice how with time it transforms into a keen reminder of possibility, the beauty + vulnerability + excitement of the start of something new.
