Can you relate? ⬇️ I have kept myself constantly busy my whole life (avoidance strategy) with studying, learning, personal and professional development. Never stopping to REALLY (truly) slow down. Too frightened to stop - because I didn’t want to be forced to acknowledge or actually ‘feel’ the pain I was pushing down and repressing. Slowing down too much would mean starting to actually ‘feel’ it all - and I would rather study psychology and help (fixing others - maladaptive coping strategy) out rather than focus on myself. 6 years ago I crashed into perimenopause already in a highly distressed, burnt out state - I had been surviving in fight or flight mode since childhood. My brain, body and nervous system told me - enough is enough! I had reached complete mental and emotional burnout. I needed to learn to slow down. Getting back info the feeling of the body, feeling and processing the pain - reconnecting with my brain and body hasn’t been an easy journey. I’m still learning, but joining all of the dots and finally acknowledging my childhood trauma and realising that I am also classed as a Highly Sensitive Person and the influence that has on my menopause experience has been a total game changer. 🧠 The Body Holds The Score Heal the body - heal the mind . . #menopause #perimenopause #midlifewomen #womenover40 #highlysensitivewomen #highlysensitivewoman #childhoodtrama #adversechildhoodexeriences #complextraumahealing #empath #menopauseanxiety #menopausementalhealth #yogaformenopausen #menopausedepression #perimenopausedepression #perimenopauseanxiety #perimenopausestress
