I’ve been waiting a long time, since June of 2021, to release this. I met Nelly @armyanskinos in 2019 and I had surprisingly taken my most deep photograph ever, learned vastly about myself as a photographer and person, I knew I had to follow up with a bigger project for the both us. ‘Burying The Hatchet’, my debut photobook, bounded into a hardback cover, includes an essay, and 39 portraits of Nelly dwelling in the comfort of her beautiful home in Odessa, Ukraine, completely exposed and bare, no fashion, no makeup, only a personality that carries the weight of these portraits. Over the years, I had learned that I don’t necessarily care too much about fashion as much as creating meaningful, sentimental and uncynical portraits of the people modeling the garments, rather than documenting the clothes, ultimately trying to express an uncompromising viewpoint of my subject manner through a camera. Nelly understands these concepts and the work truly exemplifies that whilst modeling, speaking and even headbanging to Merzbow, she’s become a muse of mine. 🖤 Willingly, we both found a way to create this documentation as we had missed the opportunity to shoot in person with the times. Ever since I’ve been shooting and also before I used a camera for self expression, I’ve had an urge to create something of this magnitude and I can finally unveil it to you, writing this with a smirk under my beard.
