HÖFUÐSTÖÐIN is ready for you! We open our doors at Rafstöðvarvegur 1a in Reykjavik Iceland this January 2nd at 2pm! It is a new culture destination, a permanent home to Chromo Sapiens my multi sensory hairy installation, an explosion of color and a soundcape created by HAM and produced by Skúli Sverrisson. Originally comissioned for the Icelandic Pavilion at Biennale di Venezia in 2019, in collaboration with curator Birta Guðjónsdóttir and the Icelandic art center and the Icelandic Ministry of Culture, Science and Education. I would like to thank my co-founder at HÖFUÐSTÖÐIN, Lilja Baldurs for being a total kick ass creative producer and for seeing the potential and sharing my vision to give my installation Chromo Sapiens it’s own home here in Reykjavík Iceland with a design store and a cafe/bar. A true oasis by the nature paradise Elliðaárdalur rivervalley. This has been 9 months (of course) of hard work and thanks to an army of dedicated supporters, incredibly talented team of Shoplifter installation specialists and professionals, crew of builders, plumbers, electricians, architects, engineers, designers, painters, my cake baking mom and endless errand running dad, this mad operation has become a reality! ...and if it wasn’t for the mighty Hilmar The Osteopath showing up to fix some pretty exhausted bodies we wouldn’t have gotten here! I introduce you to Morgan Eldon and Atsuko Sato who will be running the show on a daily basis with Lilja Baldurs at the helm!
