‘“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.‘ Luke 15:4-7 Sheep are the most disobedient yet vulnerable creatures. They are in vast need of protection and direction. How fitting is it that the Lord is our Shepherd and we are His sheep? It is a blessing to serve a God who chases after us when we go astray. He found me, carried me home, and rejoiced upon my return! I’ve made the decision to rededicate every square inch of my life to our mighty and awesome God, and this feeling of obedience through baptism is indescribable. Thank you, Lord, for your Son’s great sacrifice, your merciful forgiveness towards a sinner like me, and your never-ending, unfailing love.
