I wrote the demo instrumental to “Steps” shortly after ‘Heaven Is For Quitters’ came out. It was for an album I was making called ‘Cruis'n USA’. It was gonna have a sort of neon Cyrillic Font on the cover. Anyways so I sent Mykki Steps, French Lessons and a few others from the album as I didn’t think I had the vision to fully realize Cruis’n yet. I’m glad I did as now I get to work with some of the greatest musical minds on the planet. Steps evolved and I remember the day both Saul’s and MNEK’s vocals hit the inbox. It’s been a journey and not always easy to sit on HEAT but just let it bake and finish the way it’s meant to be, you know? You working hard? Trust yourself.
