A quick summary on the difference between AHA, BHA and PHA! Keeping it very simple and easy to understand! ⁣⁣⁣⁣FYI: everything is formulation dependent and I don’t like recommending that x acid can only be used for sensitive skin or oily skin etc. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🟣AHA: Alpha Hydroxy Acids are water-soluble acids that can be used to exfoliate the upper layer (dead skin cells) of your skin. The three mentioned are the most common ones found in skincare. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🟢BHA: Beta-Hydroxy Acids are oil-soluble. BHAs can effectively act inside pores and work to unclog oil, dirt and debris from your pores. Salicylic Acid has a UV protective effect due to its structure (benzene ring). Though, this does not mean you should skip sunscreen when using a BHA. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 🟢PHA: Poly-Hydroxy Acids are similar to AHAs, but more gentle on the skin due to their larger molecular size and slow release into the skin. PHAs can also play a role in hydrating your skin. Comment below for any questions or comments!
