@odo.nyc is a great choice to have an authentic Japanese Kaiseki experience in NYC.
The restaurant’s entrance is easy to miss when you walk by, and when you walk in it looks like a casual bar. Rest assured, behind the back door sits a beautiful wrap around wooden counter and to my amazement, as you keep walking further inside this room, there is another secret room available to book out for private gatherings! Thank you @jnjeattheworld for booking out the back room and treating us to this beautiful kaiseki meal. Every one of our courses showcased the diversity of seasonal Japanese produce and the chef’s culinary mastery. My favorites of the night were the first course and the last savory rice pot course. The first course was served in mini martini glasses with sweet shrimp, uni, caviar, corn tempura and a corn custard and the rice pot of the night was anago with ikura and burdock; such a comforting end to an amazing meal!
Our August 12th menu:
Sakizuke - Amaebi uni-ae, osetra caviar, summer corn
Otsukuri - Chutoro, madai, japanese squid
Own - Kinki, mizunasu, manganjin, yuzu
Yakimono - Wagyu steak, kimioroshi, sansho soy, black truffle
Oshinogi - Sudachi soba
Takiawase - Wagyu nabe, mizuna, daikon, sesame suce
Gohan - Kamameshi Anago, ikura, burdock
Kanmi - Housemade milk ice cream, Yubari melon, mango froth
