The median American income is $50k but it’s reported that the income needed to cover the avg household expenses is at least $80k. We all know that the cost of living is higher than it’s ever been and unfortunately it’s only about to get worse. I talk a lot about how great the tech/software industry is, but one major negative about it is that it’s growing so fast that it’s causing the cost of living to go up even more! How? Because the median tech income is $98k. So the more people get in tech, the more the average cost of living rises to meet the demand of the increasing purchasing power. And no industry is growing faster than tech...so if you are not working in tech or some kind of industry that is paying you north of $100k, then you could find yourself out priced from being able to afford basic livelihood. This is part of the reason I’m putting my community on to the opportunities in the tech industry.
