Billi Free. Directed by Colorado-based artist Gabriella Molina, the video features psychedelic 2D animations of the desert, forest, and cosmos, which Molina crafts using her singular combination of analog techniques like paper puppetry, collage, and hand-drawn and painted animation. Like the rest of Holy Body Roll, “Between Us Is Light” is a brilliant fusion of many sounds. The Lasso crafts an atmospheric suite of downtempo R&B, groove-filled funk, and celestial jazz, while Free assures the listener that “every little thing is going to be alright” in her warm, comforting voice.
