I was so lucky to had the chance to talk to Mr. Koreeda Hirokazu on Chicago Film Festival today. The greatest lesson I had today is from his words, “I think this is good.” I asked him that as a film composer, I noticed his film doesn’t have too much music, he said, “oh really? Not too much?” (Laugh), then I asked his idea behind for choosing not to add music during strong emotional scenes. He said, “I think this is good.” I was so enlightened at that moment. Having a strong attitude and perspective, not flattering audience and not giving too much explanation, using the energy of “oneself” to create works and change the environment, instead of squeezing oneself into an environment, is the way to create a unique voice and style. I could feel that he has a very strong personality and his eyes are really sharp, but not in the way that I would be afraid of. I really respect him. His words is such a great encouragement, and makes me being more firm about myself. I shared my photos to my family, but got the criticism that my outfit is “too ugly, not following the rules and makes other feel uncomfortable “. I said, who should I make “feel comfortable” for? And I really wish my Japanese skill could be better🥲 But at least I talked to him!!! #是枝裕和 #koreedahirokazu 有幸在芝加哥电影节对话是枝裕和。今天最大的收获是是大师亲口对我说的,“我觉得这样就很好”。 放映结束后直接上去问他,我说作为一名配乐人,我有留意到您的电影其实配乐很少,他说,少吗?(笑)我说我想知道您对于很多情绪充盈的场景都选择了不配音乐,请问这背后的想法是什么呢?他说,我觉得这样就很好。 那一刻醍醐灌顶。有自己坚定的想法和态度,不谄媚观众,不做过多的解释,用自己的气场去产出作品和改变环境,而不是把自己往某一个环境与价值观里硬挤,这样才能形成自己独树一帜的风格。大师眼神很犀利,气场很强,一站在那里就不得不敬畏,但又并不让人害怕。能感觉到他有非常强的自我,大师的话无疑让我对自己也更坚定了。 回家开开心心和家里分享了我和老师的合照,却收到了“穿衣服太难看,让人看不顺眼,不符合规矩”的评价。我说,要令谁舒服?符合哪里的规矩?我喜欢,我觉得这样就很好。 (几年前买的老师的书,没想到竟然有他亲笔签名的一天!以及日语到用时方恨烂 不过没关系 已经和大师对话了!! 2024.10.19
