Onward & upward! House Bill 41, the CROWN Act, passed on the floor of the House with a vote of 74-24. The legislation prohibits discrimination on the basis of hair texture, natural hairstyles, and protective hairstyles. Next, the bill moves to the Senate! Hair discrimination is rooted in the belief that straight hair is ultimately cleaner, neater or more professional, while it’s opposite for hair that is textured.
