I’m sharing my family’s epitome of Mexican-American traditions: the Turkey Torta after the thanksgiving dinner. Here’s my moms family recipe for turkey Tortas: ⁣ Turkey Torta Ingredients ⁣ ⁣ 2+ lbs of diced turkey⁣ 2 Tbsp of oil or pork fat 1/2 onion diced⁣ 2 garlic cloves diced ⁣ 1 Tbsp adobo seasoning (or seasoned salt)⁣ 1 Tbsp Cumin ⁣ 1 Tbsp original @mrsdashrecipes Salt to taste ( taste as you go, probably doesn’t need it but ayá tú- you do you ;) ⁣ Turkey Torta Toppings : Refried beans ⁣ Muenster cheese ⁣ Lettuce ⁣ Avocado⁣ Sliced onion ⁣ Sliced Tomato⁣ Pickled jalapeños ⁣ Crema Mexicana⁣ Salsa roja ⁣(homemade version recipe is posted) ⁣ How to make Turkey Tortas: 💢Preheat oven to 400 degrees ♨️On a hot skillet, sauté diced onion over olive oil or pork fat; when translucent, add garlic. After a few minutes, add turkey & spices and combine thoroughly. When mixture is aromatic, lower heat and turn off after 2 minutes. Butter top and bottom of bolillos. On bottom half, spread refried beans layer. Place a scoop of Turkey over the beans and top with cheese. 💢Bake at 350 for 5-7 min or until cheese melts. (For our big family, I line a full size baking sheet with 8 Tortas at a time). 🥗When cheese is melted, I add plain or chipotle Mayo on the top lid. Then, I add fresh toppings. It’s not god if it’s not messy ;) Forks encouraged for the goodness salad left on your plate ✨ . ¡Provecho!
